Vera's Story: Our Journey Through Separation Anxiety

How our beloved labradoodle inspired us to create Veranxiety and help other dog owners navigate the challenges of canine anxiety

Meet Vera: The Heart Behind Veranxiety

Vera the labradoodle on the sofa, inspiration for our dog separation anxiety app

By Georg & Sara, Founders of Veranxiety

We have a 2-year-old dog named Vera who's currently dealing with separation anxiety. As dog owners going through this journey ourselves, we understand firsthand how challenging and emotionally draining it can be for both the pet and their humans.

We believe that only those who have experienced dog separation anxiety can truly understand how tough it is. This is why we created Veranxiety - an app designed specifically for dog owners like us who are struggling with their pet's anxiety.

Unlike many apps created by large companies or venture capitalists looking to maximize profits, Veranxiety was born from a genuine need. We're tired of apps that overpromise and try to do too much but provide little practical value. We made this app because we want to help others solve the same problem we are dealing with every day. Our goal is to make this tool as effective as possible, which is why we built it ourselves based on our direct experience.

If you cannot afford the app but need help with your dog's separation anxiety, please send us an email or message us on our Discord. We'll find a solution because we believe every dog deserves help with anxiety!

From Personal Challenge to Helping Others

As we work through Vera's separation anxiety, we realized there must be many other dog owners facing similar challenges. The emotional toll of leaving your anxious dog alone, the guilt when you hear them barking or see them panting, and the stress of coordinating schedules so they're never alone - these are experiences shared by countless pet parents.

That's why we built Veranxiety - a simple, focused tool to help track and manage dog separation anxiety. We're not backed by venture capital or a large corporation - just two dog owners who want to make a difference in the lives of dogs and their humans.

Our goal is to create a tool that provides real value without overwhelming features or false promises. We're building the app we wish we had when we first started dealing with Vera's anxiety, focusing on what actually works based on veterinary behavioral science and our own experience.

Through consistent tracking and incremental training, we've seen improvements in Vera's ability to stay calm when we're away. We want to share these techniques and tools with you to help your dog build confidence and reduce anxiety.

Join Our Supportive Dog Anxiety Community

We believe in building a supportive community of dog owners who understand the challenges of separation anxiety. Managing a dog with anxiety can sometimes feel isolating - friends and family might not understand why you can't simply leave your dog alone or why training takes so long.

That's why we've created a Discord server where dog owners can connect, share experiences, celebrate small victories, and get support during setbacks. Join us to become part of a community that truly understands what you're going through with your anxious dog.

Our Approach to Separation Anxiety

At Veranxiety, we believe in a gradual, positive approach to treating separation anxiety. There are no quick fixes or miracle solutions - instead, we focus on:

  • Systematic desensitization: Gradually increasing the time your dog spends alone while staying below their anxiety threshold
  • Data-driven training: Carefully tracking each session to understand patterns and progress
  • Positive reinforcement: Using rewards and positive associations rather than punishment
  • Consistency: Maintaining a regular training schedule
  • Patience: Understanding that progress may be slow but celebrating small victories

Our tracking tools help you implement these principles effectively, giving you clear visibility into your dog's progress and helping you make informed decisions about their training plan.
